Thanks for your reply. I am in Virginia (VA), and I would like to post a photo of the oil drain plug which i have found, but think it may not to be the oil drain plug! If it is, I would need a special tool. Please reply to jgmachorton@yahoo.com if possible. Many thanks. John (not Carol, my wife.) |

If it is 1948, then she is not a Routemaster !! A Routemaster one, on the AEC and Leyland engine, is in the bottom of the front part of the sump. |

Where is the oil drain plug? I searched under the engine of the Bus, but I'm just not sure. From London to Loudoun! I have owned my 1948 double-decker London Bus for over 35 years! I have had a wonderful, exciting time but I have recently retired and I need to either restore her to the former glory or, sadly, sell her. I shipped her over here from London myself in 1992, to Norfolk, VA! Never has traveled more than 100 miles in any one year since retirement from daily driving on the streets of London, but in 70 years she has done more miles than an odometer could record! There is no odometer in these old Buses. I have a lot of Historical Documents and Accessories, which I will be pleased to show and sell with her. I need to change the oil and clean up the interior, then I will offer the Bus For Sale. Please could someone describe the exact location of the drain plug. A volunteer mechanic as always taken care of servicing. Thanks y'all! John 703-283-3205 |
