Have you managed to do it? i recently dismantled mine so i could sand blast the metal work.

Having now obtained from the Association two replacement rubber ball gaskets for the indicator ears, I am having difficulty getting the spindle on which each ball is mounted out. There is a circlip and washer at the top, which are easy to remove, but the rotating bakelite contact piece below the circlip will not come out easily, and I am afraid of applying force in case I damage it. I am aware that there is a peg below the ball which has to be drifted out.
Can anyone who has replaced the ball gasket help with a process?
